Into The Dark


Make your way through the maze. Find the key and get to the door before they find you. 

This game was made for the 46th GM48 game jam.

I will continue work on this because I had a lot of fun making it and have some ideas for story elements and further gameplay.


Left mouse button to toggle your flashlight

WASD to move

Use your mouse to aim your flashlight

ESC to pause


You move faster with the lights out but so do the monsters.

Prolong exposure to light makes Demons flee.

Creepy Skullies don't care about light but are horrible at tracking.

Keep your flashlight charged with lightning batteries.


Recommended to play with heads phone with the volume up.

This game is meant to be extremely dark without the flashlight.

Possible flashing lights but that would only happen under the players own action.

The HTML5 game will lag a lot if you are using Opera Browser. There's nothing I can do to fix this it is an Opera problem, sorry.

I love the atmosphere that's established with a very simple style, even the slight whirring sound adds to it. I think my only wish was that the "lights on" speed of walking was a little faster, or if there was some way to mark my progress? Eventually I was running around in the dark with just no clue where to go, which is a bummer, because I enjoy the vibes of the game, I just couldn't progress! Might just be me though. Still very cool, thanks for sharing this game!

Thanks for playing man and thanks for the comment. I'm working on an update for it that'll add new monster path finding. A pick up that'll temporarily point you in the right direction. The move speed when the light is on has been changed to match the speed while in the dark. A breadcrumb system so you can keep track of where you have been and a few more scary encounters. So I hope you'll come back to give it another go once the update is out. Thanks again for playing and the feedback.
